The annual Barrande-Vltava chemistry symposium is organized, under the auspices of the French Embassy in the Czech Republic and the Société Chimique de France, alternately in France and in the Czech Republic. After the first post-Covid meeting held in Dijón (France) in 2022, the 12th Barrande-Vltava French-Czech Chemistry Meeting will be held in Olomouc, which is a beautiful UNESCO town located in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. The combination of its rich history on the one hand and of the lively atmosphere of a university city on the other has created a unique “genius loci” in Olomouc. Palacký University in Olomouc represents the second oldest and the third biggest university in the Czech Republic, thus offering an attractive place for various scientific meetings.

This two-day scientific conference will cover many aspects of chemistry. Invited lectures will be presented by respected Czech and French speakers, while also the opportunity to present their results will be given to all participants within either a short oral communication or poster. Besides the onsite scientific programme, the meeting offers not only the ideal platform to reinforce the already existing scientific cooperation but also opens the possibilities to establish new collaborations or exchange programmes between the participating French and Czech institutions.

On behalf of the International Advisory Board and of the Local Organizing Committee, I would like to invite you to participate in the 12th Barrande-Vltava French-Czech Chemistry Meeting on 27–29 August 2023, which will be held in Fort Science in Olomouc, an interactive science centre of Palacký University Olomouc.

I am looking forward to welcoming you in Olomouc in August 2023.

Pavel Štarha
On behalf of the Local Organisation Committee
